The Event: New York DJ and MyComrade.com designer Michael Magnan’s birthday bash.
The Place: The new downtown club Santo’s Party House, where Michael and his musical partner Telfar serve as resident DJs for the weekly dance party, Monday School.
The Crowd: Gay and straight fashion-conscious club-goers who love getting down to modern house music. Well, all right!
Michael sandwiched between Victor (left) and Zach, who co-own the divine hat-making company Victor Osborne Headwear and who generously volunteered to go-go dance.
Tobell Von Cartier performed a set of her electro dance-songs, including her catchy hit, “A Current Affair.”
She was accompanied by her very limber glow-in-the-dark dancers.
Artists Mickey and Raul of the art collective Fart$ mugged for our cameras.
No, Gio, the lead singer of Black Peter, isn’t auditioning for a “Got Milk?” commercial. He just got sloppy biting into one of the birthday cupcakes.
Monday School is held in Santo's spacious basement, but we were also graciously given a tour of the main floor (which is still under construction) by one of the club’s driving forces, DJ Spencer Sweeney.
The upstairs is fab, with soaring ceilings and a super-duper stage, which Spencer said will include early-night theatrical productions put together by performer Kembra Pfahler.
We can hardly wait! Happy Birthday, Michael!
