New York’s Lower East Side was the place to be on Sunday night for two fab events.
First on the agenda was the opening of painter and performer Tabboo!’s new exhibit at Participant Gallery.
Tabboo! (right) with entertainer and well-wisher Sultana.
The opening included a newfangled staging of “The Nightingale” by Hans Christian Anderson. The cast backstage, left to right: Brandon Olson, Tabboo!, Agosto Machado, Big Bill, Soigne, Trina Rose, Jun and Vida.
Also in the cast… me! Dress and shoulder-pads courtesy of Tabboo!
Despite the gallery’s sweatbox conditions, the delightfully campy fable held the audience members in awe.
Among those in attendance: actress Tatum O’Neal, drag superstars RuPaul and Lypsinka, artist Jack Pierson and...
Nightlife celeb Kenny Kenny, photographer Alice O’Malley, artist muse Joey
DJ Spencer Sweeney, singer Lady Miss Kier
JoJo Americo of the dance-music group The Ones
Singer Lady Rizo
From there it was on to the Slipper Room for a benefit for the erotic artiste known as Otter. The ex-New Yorker, who now lives in New Orleans, suffered a bad car accident earlier this year (she showed the stomach scar to prove it!) and the night’s proceeds helped to cover her myriad expenses.
Otter sandwiched between performer Viva and party promoter Daniel Nardicio.
Deejaying were Baby K (who spearheaded the event) and Johanna Constantine.
Emceeing were The World Famous *BOB* and Michael Formika Jones.
Party-guest Summer flanked by some of the two-dozen or so male nudists who were among the partygoers.
The wide-range of burlesque acts included Marti Domination.
The go-go staff included Trina Rose and Julie Atlas Muz.
The most memorable act of the night—for better or for worse—was Rose Wood, whose demented striptease included a toilet on wheels and baggies galore filled with what looked like shit.
In art and showbiz, you gotta have a gimmick!
